New "About Me Page" at my web design site.

I made a new "About Me" page at my web design page with a new lay out and new page style.

This about me page was designed first with Gimp and then cut up to make all the different parts of the page. I like this way of designing a page and this is the first page I've done this way.

Cutting up a basic web template in Gimp has a lot more advantages and disadvantages than creating a page with a WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get) programmer. Although I did use Kompozer as a visual work place to see the page come together, and to do the css quicker.

The advantages of using the Gimp template are that you have the design already laid out and being about to use better text graphics. The disadvantages are making the design come together with CSS, but that is the best way to learn CSS, is to have to put your design together with it.

New Photo Page and Blog Changes.

I added a new web page at my design site. I used Gimp to design the header and navigation bar.

I also played around with the CSS of my blog here and change the colors and added some borders.

New Home Page at Bruce Rose Web Design!

I changed the “Home Page” design. I'll have the old pages filed under “Old Page” in the link area. I used a web page template that I downloaded for the basic structure of this page. It looks nothing like the page I downloaded. I used the template for the structure of the page and as a learning tool to see how html and css work together. I really don't know if reusing templates is all that good or if starting from scratch is the best way, but reworking templates is very good learning tool.

Did Some Pages With KompoZer

I made some pages with the Kompozer web editor.

Unlike my other pages, that were done with hand code. These pages are done with a web edior, which this a lot like a word processing software.

KompoZer is an open source wed editing software, that is like Adobe Dreamweaver, but it is free and I’m sure is not as good.

Advantages of Kompozer:

It is FREE!
Good way to learn code.
Good way to learn CSS.
Good tool to edit wed page templates.
A faster way to create web pages.

Disadvantages of Kompozer:

The learning cure is high, due to there is less tutorials available.
It’s open source.

Why I’m using Kompozer now:

It’s free.
I found and payed for a set of KompoZer training videos.
It will be a good place to start to learn web editing software.
